Does your child struggle with any of the following?

- Buying a snack from the vending machine
- Shampooing in the shower
These are all examples of Activities of Daily Living, or ADLs. Each one is only considered a struggle in context of the child’s age; for example, most 3-year-olds will require help while taking a bath, while an 8-year-old should be able to do so independently.
If your child struggles with at least 3 ADLs (which are age-appropriate for him to have mastered), he might be eligible to receive an aide at home!

- Aryeh had always been a happy-go-lucky first grader, but after recovering from a bad sore throat this past winter, he developed a few concerning behaviors. Perplexed by the sudden changes in her son, his mother researched until she hit upon PANDAS, a neurological condition which can result from untreated strep. Unsure of where to go with this lead, she reached out to Ezreinu. Ezreinu provided her with contact information for some top PANDAS specialists who could diagnose and treat Aryeh.
- Adina desperately needed speech therapy, but the therapist recommended by her Pre-1A teacher charged an arm and a leg. Her parents called Ezreinu, and they received information about a few therapy centers which accepted their insurance.
- An energetic child by nature, Suri would jump off the school van every day and race into the house, slamming doors and emptying toy bins before even removing her winter coat. Her younger siblings couldn’t continue to play undisturbed, and her mother could forget about getting suppertime underway. At the end of her rope, she called Ezreinu, and they helped her find an after-school program that was a great fit for Suri. These days, Suri goes straight from school to her program, where she lets out all her energy while her family enjoys a calm evening.
- Shloime, a charming young man with Down Syndrome, was anticipating his upcoming 18th birthday when his father realized that the birthday entailed far more than just a party. 18-year-olds are considered adults who can make their own medical and financial decisions without including their parents. Shloime’s father realized he’d have to act fast to obtain guardianship and retain his right to make decisions on Shloime’s behalf. Frantic, he called Ezreinu and obtained both general information about the guardianship process along with a lawyer recommendation to get the ball rolling. At Shloime’s party, his parents celebrated happily, knowing that they were well on the way to becoming their son’s official guardians.
- The F. family was traveling for a family simcha, and though their son, Michael, is a very high functioning adult and can care for himself independently, his rigid personality and need for a structured daily schedule makes traveling with him a nightmare. They were already shelling out thousands on their week-long trip and did not have any cash to pay someone to care for Michael while they were away. They called Ezreinu, and though they were told that most people in the network take jobs for pay, a volunteer from the Holding Hands group offered to take Michael in for the week, free of charge.
